Shared note	Stephen ws named for his two grandfathers: Stephen Pyland and William Albert Pankey. STEPHEN PYLAND CALLED BY DEATH AT CARAWAY HOME - Stephen A. Pyland, 70, well known planter of Eastern Craighead, died at his home at Caraway this morning at 5:15 following an illness with complications. Mr. Pyland was born in Alabama (sic) and moved to Craighead County with his parents when a child and had resided on Buffalo Island most of his life. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lilly Pyland, five sons, Claude of Caraway, Frank of Wilson, Fred and Elvis of Lake City, and S. A. Jr., of the United States Navy, eight daughters, Mrs. R. H. Mangrum of Caraway, Mrs. Earl Merryman of Monette, Mrs. Rex Moore of Jonesboro, Mrs. Brodis Presser of Blytheville, Mrs. Clarence Gray of Caraway, Mrs. E. G. Manis of Caraway, Mrs. Robert Riding of Deta (sic), Utah, and Miss Wanda Lee Pyland of Memphis. Two sisters, Mrs. E. W. Finch of Long Beach, (sic) Cal., and Mrs. Bell Wright (sic) of Jonesboro and two brothers, Bud Pyland of Lake City and Will Pyland of Little Rock, and 17 grandchildren also survive. Funeral rites will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ at Caraway conducted by Minister Leonard Fielder of Lepanto. Interment will be in the Caraway Cemetery.
