'Jay' Pylant, 75, of 1020 Mesa Drive died at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 1994, in the Saint Francis Medical Center Emergency Room. Born Aug. 21, 1919, in Brookport to John and Maude Smith Pylant, he married Edith Lillie on May 8, 1943, in Charleston, Mo. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Joe Wells of Metamora; three daughters, Donna Pauli of Dunlap, Doris Jorgenson of Ottawa and Sheila Kilpatrick of Peoria; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel Belver of Bartonville. He was preceded in death by one sister. He retired from Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in 1979. A World War II Army veteran, he served in the European Theater. He was a member of the Peoria Sportsman's Club and the Wisconsin Fishing Hall of Fame. He was a founding benefactor for Lakeview Museum. He was a member of First Christian Church in southern Ilinois. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. The Rev. Gary Ruckman will officiate. Visitation will be fjrom 5 to 7 tonight at the chapel. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Peoria.
