MRS. MARY ELLE DODD - Mrs. Mary Elle Dodd was born January 23, 1857 and passed away at her home here January 20, 1944. She is survived by one son, John Pylant, at home, and three grandchildren; J. W. Pylant who is in the Army, stationed at Camp Ord, Calif., Mrs. Flora Milam and Mrs. Hazel Belver of Peoria, Ill., and four great-grandchildren, William, Robert and Claudie Milam, and Harry Lee Belver, Peoria, Ill., and a large circle of friends and neighbors. Funeral services were conducted at the First Christian Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday by the pastor Rev. Herbert Hill. Music was furnished by the church choir. Interment was made in Pell Cemetery by Kennedy Funeral Home. (obit notice -- Metropolis Daily News, 3 Feb 1944)
