[UND:]MRS. W. B. PYLAND DIED THURSDAY MORNING[:UND] (from Hearne, Texas newspaper dated 9 August 1934): This (Thursday) morning at 3:30, Mrs. Nora Lee Pyland, widow of the late W. B. Pyland, passed away at her home in East Hearne after a lingering illness. Mrs. Pyland had recently returned from Houston where she spent six months in the Methodist hospital undergoing treatment for the malady which caused her death. Surviving decedent are two sons, J. W. Pyland, of Hearne, and Ray Pyland of Houston; one granddaughter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Pyland, and one brother, T. F. Russum, of Vernon. Other relatives are two uncles, G. W. Martin, of Bryan, and Lonzo Martin, of Ballinger; two aunts, Mrs. W. G. Burke, of Houston, and Mrs. W. J. Creighton, of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Funeral services will be conducted at the home Friday morning at 10:00 o'clock, by Rev. T. Walter Moore, pastor of the Methodist church, with Rev. A. A. Wagnon, of Marlin, former Hearne pastor, assisting in rites. Commitment of the body in Norwood cemetery will be under direction of the Creed Funeral Home. Mrs. Nora Lee Pyland was born in Reagan, June 21, 1877, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Russum. She spent her childhood and early womanhood in the town of her birth, and on July 17, 1895, was married to W. B. Pyland. Mr. and Mrs. Pyland and their family moved from Bremond to Wheelock in 1913, and from that location to Hearne in 1919. The family home has since been in Hearne. Mrs. Pyland had been a member of the Methodist church since childhood, and her membership was with the Hearne church. She was a patient sufferer throughout her long illness. The sympathy of Hearne and community is with the bereaved family, who in their tender care of Mrs. Pyland have had the assistance of friends and neighbors who knew her as a sweet Christian character. |
