Living with brother Joseph's family in Hardin Co, IL in 1910. Obituary: (Hardin County Independent, Elizabethtown, Ill, 15 Feb 1923) Dock Piland, who has been an inmate of the Anna, Ill, asylum for the past six months, died Friday, February 9th at 1:30 p.m. Dock, as he was called by all his friends was born in Monroe, Co., Kentucky, in 1849 and came to Elizabethtown with his parents in 1861 and for 83 years prior to being sent to the hospital he made his home with his brother, J. B. Piland. He worked for Capt. Joe Wagoner some years and also worked at the Rocsiclare Mines for several years until following an attack of flu he suffered a nervous break down, and on lasst August he waas sent to the Anna hospital for treatment, but his condition failed to improve and on February 9th death came to his relief. Deceased liked but five days of being 64 years old. The remains were buried at Anna, Ill. |
