JOHN H. PYLAND FUNERAL HELD HERE MONDAY
Funeral services were held here Mnday afternoon at 2:30 from the First Baptist Church for John Hopkins Pyland, only brother of Joe Pyland, who died in a Prescott hospital Friday night of last week following a lingering illness. The Rev. R. S. Beal, pastor of the church, officiated.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harper sang a duet, "In The Garden," with Mrs. M. C. Woodburn playing the piano accompaniment.
Interment was in the Pyland family plot in Flagstaff cemetery.
Pall bearers included Harold Leamon, Francis L. Decker, Art Vandevier, Henry Osborne, H. L. Russell and Bill Marsh.
The deceased, better known to his friends as "Hop", was born October 25, 1881 at Lasater, Tex., and would have been 63 years of age this fall. He was a retired railroad conductor and came to Flagstaff in September, 1942, from his home at Glenmora, La., for the benefit of his health. Mr. Pyland took him to Wickenburg about eight weeks ago hoping the change of climate would benefit his health and only last week end took him to a specialist at Prescott. His death was due to asthma and heart complications.
Other than his brother he is survived by a sister, Mrs. R. E. Honeycutt of Glenmora, La.
