The following obituary appeared in the WACO TRIBUNE-HERALD (Sunday, 10 Jan 1960): G. C. Pylant, Austin, Dies <p> George C. Pylant, of Austin died at 6:10 p.m. Friday in an Austin hospital. He was 88. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday in Wilkinson and Hatch with burial in the Gatesville cemetery. George N. Denton Lodge No. 24 A.F. & A.M. will have graveside service. <p>Mr. Pylant was a native of Tennessee. He came to Gatesville with his family as a child. He was with the State School for Boys in Gatesville for many years until 1924 when he came to Waco with Texas Electric. He had lived in Austin the past six months. Before moving he lived at 516 North Tenth. He was a charter member of the George N. Denton Lodge. Survivors include two nephews, Charles Pylant and B. Pylant, both of Houston; two nieces, Mrs. Dorothy Peterson of Corpus Christi and Mrs. W. H. McCollum of Georgetown. |
