DEATH OF JOE SILVA
Passed Away Saturday Night After a Short Illness With Typhoid Fever
Joe Silva, one of the most widely known Italian residents of North Frontenac, died at his home late Saturday night. He had been ill with typhoid fever for several weeks but was taken worse Saturday morning and rapidly failed. Perforation of the bowels resulted later in the day and his death was only a question of time.
The deceased had been a resident of Frontenac for a number of years and has held positions of trust under the city administration. He was considered an estimable citizen and had many friends not only among his nationality but among others. The funeral will be held this afternoon.

End comes to Frontenac Woman at Age of 53.
Frontenac, Aug. 22 --- Mrs. Kathryn Silva, 53 years old, a resident of Frontenac 30 years, died at her home here at 3:50 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She was a native of Italy and was a widow.
Mrs. Silva is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Emil Mack, Frontenac; two sons, Frank Silva, Wichita, and Mike Silva, Vinita, Okla.; four brothers, Lawrence and Joseph Falletti, Frontenac, George Falletti, Breezy Hill, and Mike Falletti,Chicago; one sister, Mrs. Mary Carnino, Breezy Hill and two grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Silva will be held tomorrow afternoon from the Frontenac Catholic church, with Father Joseph in charge. The funeral procession will leave the home at 2:30 o'clock, with the church services starting about 3 o'clock. Burial will take place in the Frontenac Catholic cemetery.

Mike Silva, 69, Is Dead
Retired from Jewelry Business in Vinita, Okla., in 1963.
Mike Silva, 69, died at 4:25 o'clock this morning at his home, 2904 North Michigan.
Mr. Silva was born Dec. 19, 1895, in Frontenac. He started in the jewelry business with the Benelli jewelry store of Frontenac, as an apprentice in 1908. In 1925 he bought a jewelry store in Vinita, Okla., which he operated until his retirement in 1963. The family moved to Pittsburg in November of 1964.
During his lifetime he was very active in civic affairs and as a booster of the Grand River dam project he went to Washington, D.C. to urge approval of the necessary legislation to build the now existing dam.
He was married to Miss Mabel Johnson Dec. 18, 1920, in Girard.
Membership was held in the American Legion and the I.O.O.F. lodge, in both of which he ws active.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mabel Silva of the home; two brothers, Frank Silva, Bethany, Okla., and Fred Silva, Oklahoma City, and one sister, Mrs. Katherine Mack, 3006 North Michigan.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the Friskel funeral home.

Born in Frontenac, Mr. Silva was a retired employee of Phillips Petroleum Co.
Survivors include the widow, Arvie Silva; two sons, Frank R. Silva Jr, Stavanger, Norway, and Michael Silva, Houston, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Paul Taylor, Oklahoma City; a brother, Fred Silva, Oklahoma City; a sister, Mrs. Katie Mack, Pittsburg; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Another brother, Mike Silva of Pittsburg, died several years ago.
Graveside services were held July 31 at the Bethany Cemetery.
