<p> Mrs. Steve Whitson died Sunday in this city of heart disease. The funeral was held this afternoon at McAlester Church, about four or five miles southwest of Ardmore, after which she was laid to rest in the grave yard near the church.

Obit; Hollis Weekly News, 2 Nov 1944:
Services were held at the Antioch Baptist Church Tuesday Oct 24 at 3 p.m. for Mrs. H R Whitson, age 67, who died October 21 at the local hospital where she was taken after becoming ill a few days before.
Rev. Frank O Baugh and Rev. Alvin Garrison conducted the service with W W Carter, Dodson, making a short talk. Mrs. Harry Coley sang "Will The Circle Be Unbroken".
Mrs. Whitson had lived here 20 years, coming here from Pontotoc County where her husband served as a deputy sheriff for many years.
Survivors are the husband; four daughters, Mrs. Pearl Roddy and Mrs. Maud Crow, Hollis, Mrs. Eunice Powers and Mrs. Lanonia Corbitt, San Francisco, Calif; five sons, Oscar of Richmond, Calif, Floyd and Youlare of Dodson and Claud of the U S Army in France. Five sisters and three brothers survive. Bearers were Bleve Crow, Charlie Carter, Walter Boggs, Rufus Jamison, Roy Hunter and Lonnie Carter. Flower girls were Esmer, Dorothy and Wanda Jean Crow, Maable Castleman, Audrey Coward, Flossie Hunter, Jessie Lou Corbitt and Johnnie Boggs.
The Coley Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements of the burial held in the Fairmount Cemetery.

<p> Henry Rice Whitson, long time resident of Hollis, passed away on Christmas Day in a Clinton hospital. He was 81 years old and lived in Hollis since 1924. His birthplace was near Nashville, Tenn on May 12, 1872.<p> Services were held on Saturday in the Coley Memorial Chapel at 3 p.m.. Burial was made in Fairmount Cemetery. Rev. Ted Ewing of Fort Cobb conducted the services. Mrs. Harry Coley had charge of the music, singing "Uncloudly Day" and "Beyond the Sunset". Bearers were Jack Hunter, Clinton; Sam Crow, Henry Corbitt, Delbert Corbitt, Ralph Patterson and Conway Wood. Honorary bearers were members of Mr. Whitson's Baptist Sunday School class. His teacher, Harry C. Hicks, read the obituary during services.<p> Mr. Whitson is survived by his wife, Lizzie, of the Hollis home address; by four daughters, five sons, three sisters and two brothers. Nineteen grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive. Daughters include Mrs. Albert Roddy and Mrs. Astor Crow, Fort Supply; Mrs. Elbert E. Corbitt, Woodward; Mrs. C G Powers, San Bruno, Calif. Sons are Oscar of Ada; Floyd and Eulice of Donson; Claude of Vinita and Woodrow of Hollis.
