Obit; Hollis Weekly News, 2 Nov 1944:
Services were held at the Antioch Baptist Church Tuesday Oct 24 at 3 p.m. for Mrs. H R Whitson, age 67, who died October 21 at the local hospital where she was taken after becoming ill a few days before.
Rev. Frank O Baugh and Rev. Alvin Garrison conducted the service with W W Carter, Dodson, making a short talk. Mrs. Harry Coley sang "Will The Circle Be Unbroken".
Mrs. Whitson had lived here 20 years, coming here from Pontotoc County where her husband served as a deputy sheriff for many years.
Survivors are the husband; four daughters, Mrs. Pearl Roddy and Mrs. Maud Crow, Hollis, Mrs. Eunice Powers and Mrs. Lanonia Corbitt, San Francisco, Calif; five sons, Oscar of Richmond, Calif, Floyd and Youlare of Dodson and Claud of the U S Army in France. Five sisters and three brothers survive. Bearers were Bleve Crow, Charlie Carter, Walter Boggs, Rufus Jamison, Roy Hunter and Lonnie Carter. Flower girls were Esmer, Dorothy and Wanda Jean Crow, Maable Castleman, Audrey Coward, Flossie Hunter, Jessie Lou Corbitt and Johnnie Boggs.
The Coley Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements of the burial held in the Fairmount Cemetery.
