Will of Nicholas Pyland, recorded 24 February 1778. Surry County Wills, Etc., 10a, 1768-1779. Virginia State Library, Richmond, VA. In the name of God amen I Nicholas Pyland of Surry County being in good health & Sound perfect sense & memory Thanksbe to God for the same do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner & form as followeth first & principally I commit my Soul to Almighty God & for what estate hath pleased the Lord to bless me with I give & bequeath & dispose of as followeth Item I Give my whole Estate after my debts & funeral charges is paid to be equally divided between my two sisters Mary Pyland & Martha Pyland & my Cousin Rebecca Judkins to them & their Heirs. I do hereby appoint my Sister Mary Pyland my whole & Sole Extrix of this my last Will & Testament and In Witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this fourth day of April one thousand and seven hundred seventy six. Signed Sealed in presence of Saml. Judkins Senr. Wm. Judkins his Nicholas Pylant mark At a court held for Surry County Feb. 24, 1778. The last Will & Testament of Nicholas Pyland was presented in Court by Mary Pyland the Extrix therein named who made Oath thereto according to law & the same being provided by the Oath of Wm. Judkins one on the Witness there & was ordered to be recorded. & on the motion of the said Extrix Certificate as Granted her for obtaining a probate thereof in due form. Teste William Nelson CC Cur |
