MARSHALL PYLAND DIED MONDAY NEAR CYPRESS
Marshall Pyland, 73, died at his home Monday, March 17 at 8:00 o'clock. He resided southwest of Cypress on a farm and had been in declining health for the past few months.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at Luthers Chapel church, southwest of Cypress with the Rev. R. E. George officiating assisted by the Rev. Dale Walker. Interment will follow in the Cypress Masonic cemetery.
He leaves surviving his widow, Eliza; children, Mrs. Eula Miller of Carbondale, Mrs. Pauline Schwerdt of Fulton, Ky., Lynn of Orlando, Fla., Lewis of Cypress and Marshall of the U. S. Army, Edgewood, Md. Surviving also is a sister, Mrs. Sula Wheeler, Reydon, Okla. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
At the time of his death, Mr. Pyland followed the occupation of farming.

Obituary

 Marshall Pyland was born March 9, 1885, the son of William and Mariah Pyland at Allen Springs, Illinois and departed this life after a short illness at his home near Cypress, Illinois at 9:00 a.m. on March 17, 1958 at the age of 73 years and eight days. On August 28, 1904 he was married to Eliza Burgess.  To this union six children were born, one of whom died in infancy in 1905.  He leaves surviving, his widow, Eliza; five children, Mrs. C. L. Miller of Carbondale, Lynn Pyland of Orland, Florida, Lewis Pyland of Cypress, Mrs. John Schwerdt of Fulton, Kentucky and Marshall, Jr., of the U. S. Army. Surviving also is a sister, Mrs. Sula Wheeler of Reydon, Okla; two step-sisters, Mrs. Elmer Troutt of Creal Springs and Mrs. Omer Reeves of Reevesville.  He also leaves ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. Pyland lived the past several years in the Chapel community, southwest of Cypress, Ill., and leaves many neighbors and friends. Several years ago he realized the need of God in his life and in 1950 he was converted and became a member of the Luthers Chapel Methodist Church.
