Funeral services were held at Avinger Monday at 2:30 for R. F. Pyland,
prominent Cass County farmer & stockman, who died at his home near
Avinger Sunday
morning following a brief illness.

Mr. Pyland was the father of Mrs. E. A. Stark & Mrs. Roger Brown of Mt.
Pleasant. He is survived by a widow and thirteen children.

Mrs. R. F. Pyland Dies
Mrs. R. F. Pyland, age 67, died at the family home Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. after an illness of several months, funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday morning at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Dickey of Avinger and Rev. Webb of Hughes Springs conducting the services. Interment was in the Pyland Cemetery.
Mrs. Pyland was the mother of thirteen children, four boys and nine girls, all of them survive the deceased. Douglas Pyland of Avinger, Pete Pyland of Vivian, Louisiana, Ruby Lee Pyland of Hughes Springs, Russell Pyland of Avinger, Mrs. Fred Parr of Avinger, Mrs. Ernest A. Stark of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Anna Lake O'Bryan of Avinger, Mrs. Armand Johnson of Lassater, Mrs. Tommie George of Linden, Mrs. Jack Witt of Hughes Springs, Mrs. Roger Brown of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Boots Wimberly of Smithland, Miss Ola Pyland of Jefferson; twenty-seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Note: Mrs. Lillie Frances REEDER Pyland was born 8 May 1873 and died 26 March 1940. Her husband Reps Franklin Pyland was born 1 December 1868 and died 28 August 1937

LEWIS F. 'BIG BUD' PARR

 Services for Lewis F. "Big Bud" Parr, 65, of Avinger were Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Avinger with the Revs. Larry Darnell and Dale Carter officiating. Burial was in the Pyland Cemetery in Avinger under the direction Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. Parr died Thursday in a Shreveport, La., hospital. He was born April 5, 1920, and was a World War II veteran. Survivors include sons, Michael L. Parr and Jeff Parr, both of Dallas, and Kraig Tyler Parr of Jefferson; daughter Kim McKinney of Avinger; sister, Joy Lynn Tyler of Jefferson; brothers Elvis and Wilburn Hall, both of Avinger, and a grandchild.
