John and Nancy had 8 children when they moved from Kentucky to Missouri. John and his family were charter members of the Mt. Lebanon General Baptist Church which is still standing and has regular services. Land for the Norris/Piland Cemetery was donated by John and he was the first person buried there. There is no headstone for he or his wife who is also buried there.
