Shared note	S. S. PYLAND S. S. "Sub" Pyland, 86, of Abilene (Texas) died Wednesday, February 1, 1995 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 1995 at Broadview Baptist Church with the Rev. David Cason officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Mr. Pyland was born on April 18, 1908 in Wimberley, Texas, the son of Sidney Jordan and Nellie Wimberley Pyland. He grew up and attended school in San Marcos. He attended Southwest Texas State University where he was an honorable mention All American football player in 1929. In 1937 he moved to Abilene from San Marcos. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for Commercial Credit when he first moved to Abilene. From 1954 to 1966 he was general manager of Western Chevrolet-Cadillac. He was then general manager of McIIwain Cadillac which later became Cantrell Cadillac. In 1991 he retired as a salesman with Rocket Olds. On September 25, 1990, he married Mary Murrin in Abilene. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife Mary of Abilene; two sons, Robert S. Pyland of Dallas and Walter R. "Randy" Pyland of Mesquite; two daughters, Patty Riddle of Abilene and Pam Field of Dallas; three sisters, Allene Evans, Elizabeth Westmoreland and Virgie Kercheville all of San Marcos; twelve grandchildren, Corrie Pyland, Lesley Watson, Eric Pyland, Jason Pyland, Taylor Field, Lauren Field, Morgan Field, Gillian Field, Shannon Field, Hayley Field, Sterling Riddle and Hadley Riddle; two great-grandchildren, Brittney Pyland and Kameron Watson; and several nieces and nephews.
