Word was received here Wednesday of the death of Mr. Vanderbilt Pylant, a
former resident of Petersburg, which occurred at his home in Akron, Ohio, after a long illness of complications.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mayme Scott Pylant; two daughters Misses Melba and Elizabeth Pylant, of Akron; four sisters, Mrs. Evalena Douthit
and Mrs. Jim Renfro, of Akron; Mrs. Walter Morrison and Mrs. Mattie Crane,
of Columbia; and one brother, Eugene Pylant, of Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews of Petersburg.
Funeral and burial took place in Akron Friday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Pylant Crane, aged 71 years, who died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Walter Morrison, near Columbia, Friday night, after a lengthy illness, were held Sunday at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church by Rev. Vaughn Fults, assisted by Rev. H. J. Burroughs and Rev. D. B. Smith. She was a member of the C. P. Church. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Morrison, of Columbia; Mrs. James Renfro and Mrs. Houston Douthit, of Akron, Ohio; and one brother, Eugene Pylant, of Petersburg; several nieces and nephews. Burial at Old Orchard Cemetery.
