Obituary: FRANCES C. PILAND
Frances Cornelia Piland, 90, of Portsmouth Boulevard, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, in her home.
A native of Gates County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Ruben Julian Piland and Effie Harrell Piland. She had retired as a payrjoll supervisor from St. Julien's Creek Ammunition Depot and was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Emily V. Piland of Portsmouth; a brother, Raphael Piland of Suffolk; a nephew, Ruben S. Piland of Jacksonville, Fla.; two nieces, Rachael V. Patchett of Suffolk and Susan P. Goodwyn of Hampton; five grand-nephews; and one great-grand-niece.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Coolspring Baptish Church Cemetery, Eure, N.C., by the Rev. Gene Primm. The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
