MARY D. PYLAND
Mary Dee McReynolds Pyland, a retired teacher and actress, died of cancer Thursday at home. She was 72.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday followed by a brief memorial service at home. Greenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pyland was born in Fort Worth and had lived in Dallas for nearly 50 years. She was a graduate of Arlington Heights High School. She was a retired school teacher, spending 30 years in the Dallas Independent School District.
She spent her retirement years acting in various movie productions, TV commercials and sitcoms. She was nominated for best supporting actress in a drama at the 1985 Benson Awards in Colorado. Mrs. Pyland spent time at home creating prize-winning quilts and clothing.
She was the widow of Jack W. Pyland III, who died in 1986 in a private plane crash in Mexico.
Survivors: two sons, Jack W. Pyland IV of Dallas and Jimmy D. Pyland of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Jill Pyland Dant of Colorado and jan Pyland Neumeister of Maryland; sister, Virginia Lee Gibson of Tulsa, Okla.; brother, John Carl McReynolds of Tulsa, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
