Obit: John Piland, 68, Rites Sunday
John Piland, 68, Gainesville farmer who had lived here virtually all of his life, died last Thursday.
Mr. Piland was the son of the late Jim and Hettie Ellison Piland and was born on May 3, 1896. He was married on May 20, 1923 to Rhoda Wiggins who survives him. He attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle and was a veteran of World War1.
Besides his widow, Mr. Piland is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Sullivans; two brothers, Fray Piland of Dennison, Texas and Guy Piland of Gainesville; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Hampton and Mrs. Lola Elting of Isabella, Mrs. Ada Sanders, Dumas, Texas and Anna Mathis of Henderson, Texas.
The funeral services were conducted by Charles Barnett at the Clinkingbeard chapel and the burial was in the Isabella cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday. The pallbearers were Elbert Hale, Herbert Laub, Everett Upton, Elige White, Ted Friend and Bill Bingham.
