George B. Piland of Harris county, Texas applied for pension, approved 28 Oct 1870. Served as private June 1836 in Capt. McClure's Company F until Dec 1836. Sept 1842 enlisted in William Ryon's Company in the Mier expedition. Wounded in battle of Mier December 1842. Was prisoner of war for 20 days until he escaped to Texas. Elizabeth Pilant of Harris county, Texas affirmed she had known the "applicant" since his birth. George B Pilant came to Texas in 1836. His discharge in Dec 1836 described him as being 24 years of age, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, light complexion and hair, and was a farmer. He lived in Fort Bend county until about 1866 when he moved to Harris county. Elizabeth, mother, living in household in 1860 and 1880, wife missing. Nephew, Arc Detures (born TX 1864) living in household 1880. |
