AVINGER - Graveside services for Richard Neal Bailey, 96, of Hughes Springs were March 22, 1996, at Pyland Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Cox officiating.
Mr. Bailey was born Feb. 14, 1900, in Athens. He died March 20, 1996, in the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler after a lengthy illness.
He worked for 48 years as a telegraph operator and depot agent for the L&A and KCS railroads. He also was a member of the Hughes Springs Masonic Lodge and the Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Faye Pyland.
Survivors include a son, Dick Bailey of Hughes Springs; a daughter, Jane Sullivan of Hughes Springs; a brother, Clark Bailey of Kearnes; four sisters, Emma Johnson of Denver, Colo., Ruth Williams of Tennessee Colony, Texas, and Viola Rhodes and Frances Johnson, both of Palestine; and four grandchildren, Brent Sullivan, Keith Sullivan, James Bailey and Lance Bailey.
