<p>Mrs. Essie Cross Haslett, age 87, of Holland, died Tuesday, September 6, 1955 at 10:15 pm at Obici Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was the widow of Jethro D. Haslett and daughter of the late Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Jenkins Cross and Elisha Thomas Cross of Nansemond County. She was a member of Holy Neck Christian Church. She is survived by 2 daughter, Mrs. W.J. Norflett of Holland and Mrs. Blanche Haslett Piland of Suffolk; a sister, Mrs. Eunice Rountree of Nansemond County and a brother, John T. Cross of Norfolk; 89 grandchildren and 7 great grandchilderen. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 8, 1955 at 4:00 pm at the Holy Neck Christian Church. Burial will be in Holy Neck Church Cemetery. The body will be taken from the Hill Funeral Home to the church Thursday, September 8, 1955 at 2:30 pm.
