'Bessie Harvey of Cherry Street Annex died at McCuistion Regional Medical Center at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 24. Services were held Friday, June 26, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Semple and Dr. Pat Otwell officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Harvey was born May 25, 1898, in Crandall, a daughter of Robert L. Hicks and Zona Frances Green Hicks. She attended schools in Lamar County and married John Arthur Harvey in 1916. He died in 1960. She was a longtime employee of the Sanitarium of Paris, beginning work there in 1937. She was later a practical nurse before retiring in 1970. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Kendall Sunday School Class. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Preston (Ruth) Echols of Cooper and Mrs. William V. (Sarah) Redus of Paris; one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Harold Harvey of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Vera Cooper of Paris; and two brothers and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Mike Burns of Gulfsport, MS, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hicks of Walnut Creek, CA. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Baxter Hicks, Bennett Hicks, Jack Burns and Alton Burns.' |
