Mr. W. R. Pylant Died Saturday At Home Here

Mr. William R. Pylant, age 82, died around noon last Saturday, August 7, at his home in Ashburn, following several months sickness.

Mr. Pylant was born in Senoia December 2, 1865. He was married October 1, 1895 to Miss Lillie Bell Carpenter of Roswell.

In 1913 he moved to Turner County, bought a farm in the Live Oak section and later engaged in the saw mill and gin business. He was a successful business man of that section for twenty five years and held in high esteem by all who knew him. He took active interest in church and was a progressive citizen.

In 1938 he moved to Ashburn, bought a home and engaged in the grocery business. At the time of his death he was a member of the Ashburn Baptist church.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Live Oak Methodist church with Rev. W. A. Wilson, Rev. W. P. Spivey and Rev. L. M. Spivey taking part. Mrs. Alex Story, Mrs. W. E. Leverette, Mrs. Mary Raines, Mrs. J. F. Jordan and Mrs. Frank Criswell sang Asleep In Jesus and The Old Rugged Cross accompanied by Mrs. Cecil Tharpe.

Interment was in the nearby cemetery.

Pallbearers were Messrs. J. T. McLendon, Kent Robinson, C. D. Wisham, Fred Criswell, F. M. Wisham Jr., A. F. Shivers. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Whitehead, L. T. Nipper, T. F. Hobbs and M. M. McMurrain.

Survivors are Mr. Jim Pylant of Atlanta; Mrs. T. H. Hobbs of Macon, Mr. C. H. Pylant of Orlando, Fla., Mr. Harvey Pylant of Winter Park, Fla., Mr. Wilson Pylant and Mr. Ray Pylant of Ashburn, a grandson, Mr. Guy Pylant, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Fannye Pylant, four sisters, Mrs. Florence Wiggins of Alabama, Mrs. Lou Croft of Douglasville, Mrs. William Whitney of Carrollton, Mrs. Mollie Cravit of Tennessee and the following grandchildren, Elwood Pylant in the U. S. Navy, Miss Geraldine Hobbs of Macon, Harvey Pylant Jr., of Winter Park, Fla.

Visitors here for the funeral were Mr. Bruce Pylant, Mr. Dwight Pylant of Cullman, Ala., Mr Carl Pylant of Ozark, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burdette and Mr. and Mrs. Posey Maddux of Sandy Springs, Mrs. Bertha Townsend, Mr. and Mrs. William Garner, Mrs. Nellie Burdette, Mr. Jim Pylant of Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Chance, Miss Geraldine Hobbs, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Hobbs of Macon, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Pylant of Winter Park, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Pylant of Orlando, Fla.
