Frank Douglas Hood, born March 15, 1920, in Guymon, Oklahoma to Frank and Lois Hood, passed away February 12, 2002, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 81 years. After graduating from Brackenridge High School, he entered the apprentice program at Kelly AFB in 1939. Frank served in the Army Air Corps as a pilot in the Pacific Theatre, 1942-1946. He was married to Betty Keeney October 18, 1947, at Randolph AFB Chapel. He attended San Antonio College and Texas A&I at Kingsville, Texas, and returned to KAFB in 1952, retiring from Air Materiel Management in 1973, after 35 years of service. Frank was a devoted member of St. ChadÂ's Anglican Church, where he served as a vestryman and lay reader. He had been a member of Blue Bonnet Lodge, Number 1219 A.F. & A.M., for almost 50 years; serving as a Past Master, 1992-93, and Tiler, 1993-2001. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and the OX5 Aviation Pioneers. Frank was preceded in death by a son, Charles Steven Hood. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty; sons, Frank Hood, Jr. and wife, Sandra of San Antonio; Mark Hood and wife, Ann Marie of Gillette, Wyoming; grandson, Sgt. Charles Hood and wife, Alena of Ft. Stewart, Georgia; and many friends.
