"Ulys" Mapp, 89, of Jimtown, were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, November 20, at Jimtown Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roy Vinson and Tony Ladner officiating. Mr. Mapp was born October 12, 1914, the son of Jesse Burney and Maggie Reed Mapp. He died Monday, November 17, 2003, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta. Raised in the Jimtown community, Mr. Mapp attended Jimtown School. He and Ruby Jewel Ladner were married April 7, 1933, in Ardmore, and she preceded him in death on June 23, 2001. Mr. Mapp was a farmer and had served on the Board of Directors of Red River Valley Rural Electric Association for 32 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Jimtown Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, F.S. and Trina Mapp of Jimtown and J.B. and Alta Mapp of Ardmore; a sister-in-law, Rae Alma Mapp of Jimtown; six grandchildren, Mark Mapp, Carolyn Oats, Nancy Rhoades, Marie Mapp, Ramona Fox and Robert Mapp; and 13 great-grandchildren, Samantha Mapp, Ashley Mapp, Chase Mapp, William Oats, Allan Oats, Scott Oats, Tayler Oats, Caleb Rhoades, Alissa Rhoades, Adonis Fox, Samuel Fox, Kacie Mapp and Maggie Mapp. Mr. Mapp was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Bernice Irene Mapp; a brother, Barney Mapp; and a sister, Lorene Mapp Caldwell. Pallbearers were members of the Masonic Lodge of Ardmore and Lone Grove. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Hicks, Johnny Hall, Ott Ladner, Archelowe Terrill, Johnny Gordon and Joel Hicks.
