Lorena Pylant McRee, 82, formerly of Houston died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, in the home of her sister, Joann Prince, at Lake Murvaul.
Mrs. McRee was born in Purvis, Miss., to George David and Lilla Gay Pylant. She was educated in Galveston public schools, graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1938 and attended Louisiana State University. Mrs. McRee was the wife of the late Boyd Clifford McRee. They had lived in Houston for 15 years, Conroe for 15 years and Shreveport for 25 years. She was an accredited camellia show judge and had served in America, Australia, China, Europe and the U.K. Mrs. McRee was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Carthage and had previously had belonged to Second Baptist Church in Houston and First Baptist Church in Conroe.
Mrs. McRee leaves one daughter, Gay McCoy of Houston; one son, David McRee of Houston; one sister, Joann Prince with whom she lived; one brother, George Linward Pylant of West Monroe; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at Hopewell Baptist Church on FM 1970 five miles south of Clayton. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent, in Shreveport with Pastor David Proctor officiating both services.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
A luncheon for family and friends will be shared in the fellowship hall at the church after the service.
Arrangements are by Hawthorn Funeral Home.

George L. Pylant, 81, of West Monroe, LA, died Tuesday, October 18, 2005. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the 32nd Bombardment Squadron of the U. S. Army Air Corps in Italy. He became a prominent figure in area construction, working with R.W Butler & Sons, Greater Monroe Homes, and Jesse F. Heard & Sons construction companies, before becoming a partner in Whitey White Construction, and later the founder of Vulcan Company.
He was actively engaged in a variety of church and community affairs over the years, including founding Boy Scout Troop 27 in 1958, and serving as the Scout Master for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Dorothy Buras Pylant; sons Ray Pylant of Springfield, Virginia, Louis Pylant of West Monroe, LA, and Randy Pylant of Baton Rouge, LA; sister Joann Prince of Carthage, TX; nine grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 1321 North 7th Street, West Monroe, on Friday, October 21 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Community Baptist Church, 164 Defreese Road, West Monroe, at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 22, 2005 followed by graveside services at Hasley Cemetery on Arkansas Road, West Monroe.
