DEATH OF MRS. HANNAH HUTCHESON
Mrs. Hannah Hutcheson died of pneumonia at her home Monday night at 10:30. Funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon at the home by Rev. W. J. Hearon, assisted by Rev. A. P. Collins of Fort Worth and Rev. A. C. Gustavus. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. A number of friends and relatives from Fort Worth and Dallas attended the funeral. Interment was in Arlington Cemetery, Mr. Hugh M. Moore in charge.
Mrs. Hutcheson was a niece of Mrs. T. B. Collins, Sr., and a great niece of Mrs. R. W. Collins. There are left to mourn for her six children. J. C. Pilant (by Louise Pilant King)
The contributions and devotion to the Arlington Community by the J. C. Pilant family, who moved here from Alabama in 1874, are innumerable.
John H. Pilant was born after his parents moved to Arlington, the ninth of twelve children.
As a young man he had an interesting life, working as a salesman for International Harvester, a job that took him each year to South America during harvest season.
On one of his trips home, he met Eula Arnold, daughter of the George Arnolds, at a party in the home of Mrs. Jess McKinley.
After their marriage they resided in Nebraska and Iowa, returning to Arlington to reside in the Arnold home place where their two daughters Mildred (Mrs. Mildred Adams) now of Odessa and Louise (Mrs. Happy King), of Arlington, were born.
During the ensuing years, Mr. Pilant built a lovely brick home on West Abram, at the present location of the Happy King office building.
Mr. Pilant served Arlington during the 1930's as both councilman and Mayor and he and his wife donated land for a street connecting Division and Abram which was called Pilant Street. It has since been named Stadium Drive, East.
Mr. Pilant was a 32 degree Mason and a Shriner.
Mrs. John Pilant still resides in Arlington.

Mayor of Arlington, Texas 1931-1933.
