JEFFERSON - Services for Patsy O'Brien Thornton, 82, of Jefferson, will be at 2 p.m. today, January 3, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson, with the Rev. Allison Byerly officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery of Jefferson. Arrangements are under the direction of Haggard-Heaster Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thornton passed away on January 1, 2008, in Linden.

She was born December 3, 1925, in Marion County, to Anna Lake Pyland O'Brien and Joseph Morris O'Brien.

Mrs. Thornton was a member and former president of the Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club. She was also a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Jefferson.

Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Hubert Bender Thornton; and sons, John Hubert and James Griffin Thornton.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann Miles of Nacogdoches, Patsy Chaler and husband, Charles "Boo" of Marshall, and Sue Sullivan and husband, Lonnie of Texarkana; a special aunt, Christine "Tootsie" Wimberly of Carthage; grandchildren, Ben Miles of Nacogdoches, Marc Chaler of Marshall, Melanie Ramsey of Garrison, Greta DePriest of Texarkana, Dustin Sullivan of Plano, and Summer Sullivan of Irving; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Walter "Bob" Smith, Duke DeWare, Reggie Hasty, Peter Henderson, Jim Rounds, Milton Bass, Chris Tyler and Wayman Moore.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Jefferson or the charity of your choice.
