Roxie Opal Kirby
Roxie Opal Kirby, 91, lifetime resident of Colcord, Okla., died March 14, 2004, in Grove, Okla. Born March 14, 1913, in Chamberlain Community, Colcord, she was the daughter of [BOLD:]Joseph[:BOLD] Israel [BOLD:]Blagg[:BOLD] and Mina Martha Mitchell [BOLD:]Blagg[:BOLD].
She served as a foster grandmother for the Colcord Public Schools for 27 years. Kirby had been a member of the Colcord Missionary Baptist Church for more than 60 years.
She was preceded in death in 1986 by her husband, Cap Kirby.
Survivors include two sons, Wendell Kirby and wife Mary of Sallisaw, Okla., Dick Kirby and wife Roberta of Whitney, Texas; two daughters, Jane Ray of Escazu, Costa Rica, Pam Sitton and husband Howard of Grove, Okla.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Marion [BOLD:]Blagg[:BOLD] of Kansas, Okla.; and one sister, Irene Smith, of Colcord.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., March 17, at Draper Community Center in Colcord, with Pastor Doug Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Row Cemetery in Colcord. Memorial contributions may be made to the Colcord Alumni Association, P.O. Box 447, Colcord, OK 74338. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark. |
