Obituary: GEORGE THOMAS 'TOM' PYLANT, 77, retired cemetery worker. ATHENS - Funeral for George Thomas 'Tom' Pylant, 77, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Aaron Dunnavant and the Rev. Jason Pylant officiating. Burial was to be in Hastings Cemetery. Mr. Pylalnt died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at his home. He was born June 3, 1923 in Limestone County. He retired as a cemetery worker from the City of Athens Cemetery Department and was a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Pylant; one son, Roger Pylant of Athens; four daughters, Rita Riddle of Toney, Vickie Funk of Fayetteville, Tenn., and Charlene Gault and Rhonda Currin, both of Flintville, Tenn.; three sisters, Nina Turner of Prospect, Tenn., and Elizabeth Gates and Margaret Rolin, both of Ardmore; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were to be Dewayne Barnes, Bobby Joe Van Hoozer, Derick Pylant, Brandon Pylant, Billy Riddle and Larry Pylant.
