INDIAN WARS Claim of Widow for Service Pension Under Acts of July 27, 1892, and June 27, 1901. State of Florida, County of Polk - On this 20 day of January, A.D. one thousand nine hundred and six personally appeared before me, a clerk of the circuit court within and for the county and State aforesaid, Elizabeth Pylant, aged 68 years, a resident of Homeland, County of Polk, State of Florida, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration for the purpose of obtaining pension under the acts of Congress granting pensions for service in various Indian wars of the United States from 1817 to 1858. That she is the widow of Robert N. Pylant, who served under the name of Robert N. Pylant, as a private in Captain G. W. Ludlow's company, regiment of Tennessee Volunteers. That she became acquainted with him about the year 1881; that his personal description at that date was as follows: age, sixty; height, 5 ft 6 inches; complexion, light; color of eyes, blue; color of hair, dark; that his occupation was farmer and fruit grower. That his several places of residence after leaving the service were as follows: at Tampa, Florida until about 1862 and from 1862 in Polk County, Florida. That she was married under the name of Elizabeth Howard to said soldier at Orange Lake, Putnam Co, Florida on the 12th day of Oct 1880 by Rev. Wm. Carlton. My first husband died at Graniteville, South Carolina. My husband's wife died at Homeland, Florida. That the said soldier died Dec 3rd, 1905 at Homeland, Florida; that she was not divorced from him; that she has not remarried since his death. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Pensions, Aug 4, 1915. Certificate No. 7223. Class: Widow, Indian Wars. Pensioner: Elizabeth Pylant. Soldier: Robert N. Pylant. Sir: I have the honor to report that the name of the above-described pensioner who was last paid at $12 to May 4, 1912 has this day been dropped from the roll because of Section 4719. |
