Shared note	James Piland, IV, son of James and Elizabeth, was christened 26 Jan 1735 in the Newport Parish (in the Vestry book), Isle of Wight, VA from a periodical "South Side Virginian", vol. 4 (Jan 1986) No. 2, p. 94, "Births from the Newport Parish Vestry book, 1724-1772". This is the only extant official source for births for Isle of Wight in the colonial period. Only a few births were recorded.
