"Isle of Wight Orphans and Other Children" - abstracted by Louise Jones: The will of William PILAND, dated 7 Jan 1769, proved 3 Aug 1769. Legatees: Sons: James, William and John; Daughter: Elizabeth; Wife: Mary, and friend Richard Hardy. Wit: John Carroll; William Wills; George Goodrich; John Welch. Children were all under age. An accounting of estate of William Piland, 2 Sep 1773. Paid John Salter for schooling three children. Paid Jesse Glover for one half of all work, but that done at Mr. Haynes, as per agreement with William Pyland, dec'd. Paid for funeral expenses for John Pyland, orphan of William Pyland. Examined by Richard Hardy, Timothy Tynes. Signed: Mary Glover. Received 2 Sep 1773. 2 Sep 1782: Isle of Wight, Accounting, Jesse Glover, guardian of James and Edward Pyland.
